Post: mainmenu items missing
Some of my repos are behaving differently from others when I bring up their GUI in the browser. Some show only "Home Timeline Files Admin" while others show a more complete set of items including Branches, Tags, Tickets, Wiki, and Login. I am seeing examples of each variation on different systems. The alpine linux version seems to display the full array of items, but some of the devuan ones only show the short list.
I have not modified any of the repos' menu items in their respective settings; they are all set to whatever the default is. What I am noticing is that a repo that was displaying the more complete menu will start displaying just the short menu after performing some operations, but I am not sure which operations those are. I have tried the GUI from the server mode as well as the individual repo mode (using the "fossil ui" command). I have tried this across several different versions of devuan (daedalus/bookworm, excalibur/trixie) and other permutations of various environments but I have yet to determine why this only occurs in some instances. I have tried with root user (setting FOSSIL_USER appropriately) with 's' privilege.
I am running fossil 2.28 everywhere. I am pretty sure I had to build fossil 2.28 on alpine linux myself, but ironically, that isn't where the short menu appears--that one seems to display the longer menu I have come to expect.
One thing to note is that I can work around this by calling up the hamburger menu and selecting the item I need. I am just wondering why this change is occurring and maybe how to correct it. And I apologize in advance if this should have been obvious, or if I overlooked a release note about a change in fossil behavior in a recent release.

The default main menu automatically adjusts to the privileges granted to the person viewing the page - granted when the person logs in or just shows up as a random passer-by. Could it be that the differences in main menu are due to being logged in in some cases, perhaps sometimes with accounts that have more or less privileges, or by showing up as anonymous in other cases?

As I mentioned above, I have tested this using FOSSIL_USER=root (exported into fossil) where the user 'root' has 's' privilege. I have tried this by logging in via the fossil server mode, and I have tried this using the fossil ui mode. Sometimes other users have logged in (committing changes, etc.).
I only started noticing this behavior in the past few days. I've been using fossil especially frequently the past weeks or so. So this change shows up quite prominently to me.
I'm wondering if recent package updates on the devuan platform might be impacting the behavior.
