I get this: astro-2:Downloads joe$ lst fossil* -rwxr-xr-x@ 1 joe staff 1.6M Jun 12 2014 fossil -rw-r-----@ 1 joe staff 710K Jan 15 21:23 fossil-macosx-x86-20140612172556.zip astro-2:Downloads joe$ /usr/bin/openssl sha1 fossil SHA1(fossil)= 32feb43c0b86c7ecb2195542d30dc07ad18c85b2
website says it should be: bbf3d57ba15d0ed0e9b30819d89a50d294175113 fossil-macosx-x86-20140612172556.zip

The SHA1 sum refers to the original ZIP archive, not the fossil binary that gets unpacked (apparently automatically by your mac).
